Me

After a long spell working in health services, Nester, or Esther Remnant, couldn’t help but take heed of the summons to soothe her creative urges. “I started lino printing as it was something I enjoyed way back in school,  I loved it immediately, my passion was reignited!”work-station

Esther is mad about the wild side of nature, her true source of inspiration.

“It’s easy for me to find sanctuary when times are tough. It’s just out there. In the beauty of small living things beneath our feet, in the sky, under the surface. The patterns, the textures, the smells, the sounds. Don’t forget to stop, watch, listen, converse and be amazed. Remember that you are part of this, and it is much more significant than any of us.’

Nester prints mainly in the traditional techniques of lino printing and intaglio, from her studio in Nelson. She also makes custom rubber stamps for businesses and gifts, wallpaper design, book illustration  and block printing on fabric.  The press pictured is a stunning vintage 1903 table top press from Johnny Mulvay.

Nester’s other favourite place to be is out in the wild volunteering at the Brook Sanctuary and Healthpost Nature Trust at Cape Farewell.
